Most of the rare Mephistos are machines or modules which were at the top end of the market in their day, and because of their high price were sold in small quantities. Models such as the Vancouver Turniermaschine and the Excalibur. Then there are models produced in very small numbers primarily to contest the World Championships, notably the Wundermaschine. Lastly some modules, rare because they were both expensive and quickly superceded by more powerful hardware.
